The World Agroforestry Centre (also known as the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry or ICRAF) is an independent research institution which generates science-based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. About The Position
[color:#FF0000]Natural Resources Management (NRM) Tool Developer[/color] will work closely with a team of ecologist, land use planning specialist, economist, modeller and social scientist to develop sets of modular application for Land Use Planning for Multiple Environmental Services (LUMENS). He/she will lead a team of programmers to design, build, test and document the process of LUMENS development, under a close collaboration with relevant scientists and other potential users.
The Primary Duties And Responsibilities Are:
a) Work closely with a team of researchers to conceptualize and design modular application for informed, inclusive and integrative land use planning for multiple environmental services such as carbon, hydrology and biodiversity.
b) Interpret the concept and design of LUMENS into an implementable framework and architecture
for application/ software development.
c) Develop LUMENS application with some supports from consultants, whenever necessary
d) Design proper testing of the application and implement quality assessment/ quality control of the application
e) Document the development process of LUMENS and facilitate the translation to languages other than English
f) Develop user manual of LUMENS
g) Work closely with ecologist and land use planning specialist to develop training materials for LUMENS
h) Ensure timely development of the application to achieve project target as mandated by relevant bilateral project(s) and/or CRP component(s) within ICRAF
i) Support the web development and maintenance of bilateral projects concerning LUMENS
j) Technical backstopping to partners and users of LUMENS
k) Link relevant activities on LUMENS with on-going activities on models/tools development in
Ecological Modelling Unit

ï¿½ Minimum BSc degree in computer programming or information and technology
ï¿½ Vast and strong knowledge on programming language such as Java, Phyton or C++
ï¿½ [color:#FF0000]Strong knowledge on open source software[/color]
ï¿½ Strong programming and analytical skills
ï¿½ Good communication skills and ï¿½competence in developing user interface
ï¿½ Knowledge of NRM, geographical information system, statistic and ecological modelling
ï¿½ More than 5 years experience as programmer or related position in international or reputable organizations
ï¿½ Competent and experience in computer application development
ï¿½ Experience in working with not-for-profit organizations and government institutions.
ï¿½ Well organized; able to meet deadline
ï¿½ Having good command of English and Bahasa Indonesia
ï¿½ Willing to learn new skills/knowledge related to the scope/content of the specified projects.
ï¿½ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in multi-cultural teams.
ï¿½ Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills
ï¿½ Conceptualizes and analyzes problems to identify key issues, underlying problems, and how they relate
