setelah beberapa hari main sudo sudoan, akhirnya bisa juga main internet di UBUNTU 10.10 menggunakan Modem USB.

langsung saja, share pengalaman
saya menggunakan ubuntu 10.10 yang versi desktop diinstal di Dell Inspiron 13R, dan modem USB yang digunakan adalah prolink PCM100

konfigurasi awal, diinstal dulu package wvdial dan usb-modeswitch,package wvdial& usb-modeswitch banyak dibahas di beberapa forum ini, jangan lupa depedencynya untuk wvdial

$ lsusb

diatas, dapat dilihat kalau modem tidak bisa langsung dikenali oleh system ubuntu yang ada, tapi gpp deh.
meskipun tidak bisa dikenali, lakukan setting terlebih dahulu di

"system - preference - network connection"

pilih ke yang mobile broadband, dan setting setting terlebih dahulu operator apa yang akan dipakai, jika anda menggunakan smart, yang tinggal klik aja di other, dan pastiin konfigurasi tentang no dial (#777) serta username dan passwornya benar dulu.

selanjutnya kita paksa modem menjadi kondisi serial

$ modprobe usbserial vendor=0x1c9e product=0x9d00 --- disi sesuai serial dan kode yang ada

kemudian kita view

$ dmesg

generic usb sudah dipasangkan ke seluruh USB, ... mungkin :)

Found a modem on /dev/ttyUSB3.
Modem configuration written to /etc/wvdial.conf. --- modem ketemu


kemudian ceck di
"system - preferences - network connection"
dan anda pasti sudah terkoneksi.

tapi agak kepanjangan :D seharusnya pakai wvdial atau nm saja sudah cukup.

ka22 yg pintr Q 1004% newbie tntang linux. Q dh install ubuntu 10.04 LTS n ga mo pke windows lg.

prolink pcm 100 AHA Q lom connect. jd Ubuntu Q mseh monoton.
trik CLI/terminl mseh ngbingungin bgi newbie ky Q. bz kseh tw ga step by step install driver prolink yg GUI ky d windows. ky gnome-ppp. tloooong bngtz y ka22. Q sayang bgtz m linux Q. pngen nghidupin n mmpercantik'y.
